Hold on to Christ

Greetings to all!
As many of you know, I have served at ANCF from the very first day. I have been both challenged and blessed by the Lord during my time with this small body of believers and I’ve met many new friends from all over the world.

I have always tried to emphasize the Lordship of Christ as essential to the life of the believer. As Paul said, “For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God,” Acts 20:27 (NIV) I will continue to proclaim the whole will of my Lord wherever I may be, hoping that the Lord will use me as His instrument in bringing salvation to others.

At this time I will be leaving Thailand to live in the US. However, I have not and will not give up on the path that I believe the Lord has called me to travel. I know that some of you may be wondering why I am leaving so suddenly. The answer is, it really isn’t that sudden. The truth is, I made the decision about 3 weeks ago but wasn’t certain until recently.

I’m not sure how many of you know this, but I’ve been mostly self-supported since coming to Thailand, 15 years ago. As a result, I have had very little monthly income. My funds have eroded over time to the point where I had to decide if it was practical to stay in Thailand or if I needed to return to the US and find work.

As I began to consider the practicality of returning to the US, I came to the conclusion that I would need to find a well-paying job as soon as possible. I then began searching for job openings and found several that fit my prior skill-set. The problem was that the first job postings I considered were closing within days. So I decided to apply now rather than waiting a year or longer; at which time, it would be less likely that I’d be able to perform the duties required for this kind of work.

As I’ve taught from the first day as the pastor of ANCF, Christ is the one we should hold onto. Pastors aren’t forever but Christ is. I have made every effort to ensure that everyone comes to know the Jesus of the Scriptures who is not one produced to meet the ever-changing desires of today. Christ, the real Christ, is the one who you must hold onto!

ANCF is not disbanding. It will, however, see some changes as a team of missionaries from Cha Am have agreed to assist in keeping this fellowship going, just in a different location. The Avant team will continue to lead the Sunday morning service at the Hua Hin Hilton until the end of November. At that time, the fellowship will be moving to Cha Am. More information will be available as plans continue to develop.

[May you] grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
2 Pet. 3:18
